Annual General Meeting - Friday 9th November
Following the succesful Open day on Sunday 5th May  we were pleased to welcome 12 new members to the club at last night's committeee                 meeting.

           01-10-2018
Apologies for the lack of updates during the summer, the Webmaster was unwell.
The club enjoyed a very successful 70th year, re-uniting us with many old friends and making some new ones along the way.
The celebration game agianst Bucks County was  unfortunately cancelled due to the only significant rain we suffered but apart from that we               had our usual busy and enjoyable summer.

We recently lost past Captain and Chairman Joh Dubbelman.
Although in poor health for the last few seasons he will be fondly remembered by many of us. He was always a staunch supporter of IHBC                 even when he was acting as a carer for his wife Margo.
The funeral will be at Breakespear Crematorium in Ruislip on Friday 16th March at 12.30; followed by a reception at the Bowls Club.
On a brighter note we send our Congratulations to our Secretary Betty Hemsley who has recently been awarded a Certificate by
The Ivers Council for "Services to the Community."
We are holding a Gala Day on Saturday 28th July, starting at 9.30 am.
The competition is for Mixed Triples. Entry is £30 per Team, including Lunchwith Total Prize Money of £500.
Entry forms are available at the Club or from the Organiser - Wendy Wright .
Closing date for entries is 31st May or after 28 entries have been confirmed.

It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of past captain Ron Schofield after a long battle with cancer.
Ron was a great supporter of the club and will be missed by his many friends. At least he is now reunited with his beloved Barbara for whom he cared so devotedly. May they rest in peace.

Congratulations to all involved in the MacMillan Coffee Morning on Friday 29th September, which raised £860 on the day.
A very generous but anonymous donor has topped this up to £1000, maintaining our run of 4 figure totals for this annual event which raises money for a very worthwhile organisation which has provided support to many of our members and their families.

It's been a good year for the club and we've played a lot of games against other clubs, and made lots of new friends, even those we beat out on the green.
Congratulations to Captains Bill Lidgate, Sylvia Burrows and Alan Edgson (plus anyone who deputised for or assisted them ) for all their hard work.
We've had a successful year in competitions with some close fought games in the club championships and we've also been successful at County level. The list of winners and honours for this year is:-

Times -12 o'clock until dusk weekdays
          - 10 o’clock Saturday, Sunday and Bank holidays - subject to the Greenkeepers approval.
A big thank you to all the members who turned up and lent a hand in the works party

As most of you will know from the Pre-season meeting Ron Schofield has had to step back from the post of Men's Captain to concentrate on his health. We would like to send Ron our best wishes and look forward to seeing him on the green during the season.
Bill Lidgate has stepped up to Captain and Neal Scherer had agreed to become Vice-Captain. Please give them your support and assistance

It is soon to be the start of the season,  there is to be a works party at 10 o'clock on 15th April which the usual
rules apply - 1) turn up
                     -2) offer to help
-3) eat bacon rolls and drink coffee or tea.p
All help will be gratefully received. Remember Members - it's your club but nothing happens without someone doing it.
Sometimes that someone is you!

Just a few reminders before the new season.

There's a coffee morning on Thursday 2nd March at 10.30. All are welcome: these are fun events and great value at £1.00 for a cuppa and a cake.

It's now less than a month until the Pre-Season Meeting. Get ready to pay your Subs and enter the club competitions.

Please remember to "Sign up to a Task." We're a Member's Club and we'll only survive and thrive if all the Members help out.
Have a look at the list and pick something that suits your abilities. Paying your subs is only the start of membership.

There have been some updates to the Entertainments page.

We have some sad news for Barn Dance fans.
Nick, who has been calling for Jubilation for 12 years is hanging up his Mic.
He's chosen our dance on Sat. 21st as his last gig as he wants to go out with a bang and says we're the best crowd he's called for.
Please come along to support Nick and the band for what is sure to be a very special night.

There's still time to enrol for the Club Talent Show. Please contact Malcolm or Danny if you're interested.

Best wishes for a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year   to all our members, friends and all bowlers everywhere.

The funeral of Colin Hanson is to take place at Breakspear Crematorium on Monday 12th December at 13.00 hrs.
After the service there will be refreshments served at The Crown, Cowley, which was Colin's local.
All are welcome but please let Colin’s son know if you are attending so the family can make arrangements for the catering

Colin will be sorely missed by the Club. He was our Match Secretary for many years, was Captain of the Club on several occasions and also served as President.
Rest in Peace, Colin.

News from the AGM:-
Congratulations to Brian Carter who was elected as a Life Member after many years service ot the Club. He was Captain this year, 54 years after he was first Captain in 1962! That seems to be a record that is unlikely to be beaten. Brian has also been President, Chairman and has served on the Committee many times.

Next years Subs were agreed as:-

Website changes - Please note that at the end of September our old website - Iverheathbowls.club - will cease to exist.
If this is on your "Favourites" list please delete it and add the address for this site - Iverheathbowlsclub.com.

Congratulations to our Thames Valley League team who beat Richings Park in the Final at Kew on Sunday 11th.

There's lots of new stuff to see on the Entertainments page - events and meals for the Close Season.

Congratulations to Rachel Efde, who won the Buckinghamshire County Junior Ladies Singles at Chesham yesterday.

Congratulations to Ron Hill who has recently qualified as a Level 2 Coach.
Ron is currently our only Coach and we would benefit from having 2 more members to support him.
There will be a Level 1 Coaching course happeningase let the Club Chairman or Secretary know if you are interested in taking part. I'm told it's very interesting and can help soon. Ple make you a better bowler!

We have a new Bar Chairman - Ron Hill has resigned on medical grounds. The Committee would like to thank him for his hard work over the years and wish him a good recovery. Ron will continue as Club Coach.
Malcolm Davis has agreed to take over as Bar Chairman until the AGM but we will need a permanent replacement for next year. Thankyou to Malcolm and Chris and Pauline Robbins who will be helping with the day to day tasks involved in keeping things in good order.

The green is open. Have a good season everyone.

Many thanks to everyone who helped with the pre-season clean-up today.

The refurbishement of the toilets should be finished on Monday.
Thank-you to everyone who has contributed to the process, with a special mention to Steve and Alex who have worked very long days to create probably the best toilets of any bowls club in the county.

48 members and friends took part in the Car Rally on Sunday 3rd. The winners were Claud (Richings Park) and family just beating Lin, Val and family who also scored 69 points but took longer.

The winners received 4 bottles of wine and the runners-up a large b.ox of chocolates. It was nice to see Claud give two of his bottles of wine to Lin & Val’s team as they had matching points. Val & Lin then handed over their chocolates for Claud & Anne’s two young grandsons. Such nice touches all round.
Betty, as usual, provided a delicious cream tea, fruit cake etc for everyone – helped by June.

Many thanks to Wendy Wright for all her hard work in organising the event and anyone who helped out.

Happy Easter to all our members, friends and all bowlers everywhere.
